Carnival
Blackwood Little Theatre will be taking part in Blackwood Carnival again this year. The Younger generation will form part of the procession through town and will also be performing 2 songs on the stage in Pontllanfraith. Therefore we need as many participants as possible. The Carnival takes place on Saturday 1st August 2015. The procession usually starts at 12.00p.m.
We will be rehearsing our songs for the Carnival on the following dates and times –
Sunday 12th July 3.00p.m.-5.00p.m.
Thursday 16th July 7.00p.m.-8.30p.m.
Sunday 26th July 3.00p.m.-5.00p.m.
Thursday 30th July 7.00p.m.-8.30p.m.
Due to the short rehearsal time it is imperative that all participants attend these rehearsals. Please see Shelley to add your name to the list of participants if you are interested in taking part.
Blackwood Little Theatre will also have a stall at the Pontllanfraith site and ideas are welcome regarding how we should use it! The more fun, the better!
Pantomime
The pantomime this year will be Peter Pan and this will be directed by Steve Dobson! The dates of the pantomime this year are –
Friday 4th December 7.00p.m.
Saturday 5th December 2.30p.m.
Sunday 6th December 2.30p.m.
Wednesday 9th December 7.00p.m.
Friday 11th December 7.00p.m.
Saturday 12th December 2.30p.m.
Sunday 13th December 2.30p.m.
Please come and talk to one of our Younger Generation coaches if your child is unable to attend any of these performances.
We will require chaperone assistance for these performances and so if anyone is able to offer their time (for this or anything else) please make yourselves known!!
The cast of Peter Pan will require several members of the Younger Generation to join the main cast and to this end we will be having auditions for Younger generation members on Sunday 12th July 5.00p.m.-7.00p.m. Audition pieces will be e mailed out to all members on Monday 6th July. Please see Matt to ensure that we have your current e mail / mobile details.
Rehearsal times for Peter Pan are currently being negotiated with the YG coaches and the Director. They are likely to be a Sunday afternoon as with previous productions and the specific rehearsal start date and time will be text out to you asap.
Festival
The Spelthorne and Runnymeade Drama Festival dates are 20th – 24th October 2015. The Younger Generation cast of “All Singing, All Dancing” will be performing on Saturday 24th October. Further information regarding plans for the October festival will be sent out to the parents of the cast members as decisions are made. The festival will be a YG road trip and all members will be welcome to come and support us!!
As The Younger Generation Team, we believe it is important to set expectations for the up and coming months.
Membership
As with the adult members of BLT, each Younger Generation member is expected to become a paid up member of the theatre in order to take part in events and productions. Membership per child is at a cost of £20 each for the year, but family options are also available. The membership options are clearly set out on the attached Membership Form and this will need to be returned along with payment by rehearsal on Thursday 16th July.
Costume
Although not compulsory, red logo T shirts and hoodies are available to purchase. These will be required for the Carnival and for any publicity photos during rehearsal periods. Approximate cost for T shirts is £12 and hoodies between £15 - £19 depending on sizes and amounts ordered. Please see Sarah if you wish to purchase these items.
At a later date, parents will be asked to provide black leggings (girls) or black trousers (boys) and black daps. This list is not exhaustive and you may be required to provide one or two more basic items. However, general costumes will be provided by Blackwood Little Theatre.
Attendance
Two consecutively missed rehearsals without prior discussion will result in the Younger Generation member being cut from their role.
Punctuality
Please arrive 5 minutes before rehearsal times as we will start promptly and we cannot start over for latecomers.
Respect
All members should respect each other inside and outside of the theatre. Members are to respect the rehearsal space by using the bins provided and reporting any spillages and/or damages to a member of the Younger Generation Team.
Any repeated poor behaviour will result in contacting parents to discuss and may result in parents being asked to remain with their child if they are to continue. Rude behaviour will not be tolerated. We are volunteers!
Finally - Please sign the Support Petition - Thank you!!
The BLT £1 Renovation Campaign.
Dear Member / Supporter of BLT,
As you are no doubt aware, the theatre is in need of some serious renovation and repair. Moves are afoot to apply for some very large grants to transform the theatre and secure its future for the next generations to enjoy, just as we have done – and hopefully will continue to do so. As part of this project BLT will have to raise many thousands of pounds for our Restoration Fund (currently standing at just over £2000)….we have to prove to funders that we are doing our bit. Times are tough and this is not a begging letter, but more of a simple way that you can help us. We already have various events planned but this is a way that we can get the public to know that we need their help. Below is a text that you can copy and paste to your social media page – or perhaps send in a group email to friends / work mates etc. We are not being greedy – all we are asking is for a £1 donation. This is done through the charity Text Giving and uses mobile technology. Thanks to this method, the theatre receives 100% of the donation. No fees are taken by Vodafone. The only additional cost to the user is the standard cost of the text. Our Target is £1000. Here is what we would like you to do to help us out:
We intend to run this first campaign only for a week initially. The more shares on Facebook and the more emails people send out, the more likely we are to raise £1000….which is our target for the week.
Many thanks for your support and helping us to secure the future of your theatre.
Kind Regards
Neil Maidman

FACEBOOK COPY AND PASTE for YOUNGER GENERATION PARENTS
Hello all!! Would you like to help a great cause? As you
all probably know my son/ daughter /granddaughter/grandson (please
delete as applicable) is part of Blackwood Little Theatre and their
Younger Generation group. This community theatre group is
based in Blackwood Gwent, and is totally self-funded – no local
government funding etc – all the monies raised from ticket sales
goes to the running of the theatre. It’s some
undertaking, but one that the members have been doing tirelessly
since 1929. This is a hobby for all involved. Nobody
gets paid, and members contribute to help to run the theatre.
The theatre is in need of some serious repairs and renovation…and
the plans are to apply for capital grants to do this – but they
also need to raise monies (outside our normal running costs) in
order to part fund these renovations and repairs.
All I'm asking is could you please donate just £1.00? All you have
to do is to text... BLTH14 £1 to 70070...
It's as easy as that. You won't miss a £1 – will you? It will be
added to your phone bill.. If you’re feeling flush you can also
donate £3 £5 of even £10(which would be just fantastic) however,
all we ask is for a £1 to help us maintain our theatre for future
generations – my child! Thanks (and please feel free to share
this post).
